Charlotte and I have been keeping busy with the house and the projects that come along with it. we’re hanging some new pictures, lots of frames and getting ready for all the people. i’ve been doing lots of odd-jobs such as replacing the speakers in charlotte’s truck, the window life motor in my car and various other odd tasks. my lego robotics set will be in in a few days and i’ve got a couple projects and ideas lined up. some will be pretty neat.

anyway, i wanted to keep everyone in the loop, as I am becoming not so great at updating these days.

Hey all,

Just had a few minutes and I wanted to fill everyone in on what’s been going on and what’s going to be going on.

I accepted a new position with my Company working at TSA. I’m only going to be a block away from the Pentagon everyday, and the new job is right up my alley. It’s a software job and i’ll be working 8-5, so Charlotte and I will be seeing eachother more often. I got a raise also, and there’s alot more room for upward growth. So, that’s that. I start next week, I’ll keep everyone filled in on the new job. Oh, and I don’t have to drive my car anymore, I can take the Metro in, so not only am I saving the wear and tear on my car, it’s cheaper than gas!
I successfully replaced the windshield washer pump on my car all by myself this week. It was an $18 motor that took about 2 hours to put in. The Chilton’s guide, which is supposedly the best, was completely wrong on where it was located and I had to figure it out myself. Well, I did and now my windshield wipers spit out fluid when my windshield is dirty. I also figured out how to align my headlights without taking my car into a dealership. This was especially tricky because my car was designed so people couldn’t do that. Now, all I have to do is replace the fog light builb (which went out this morning) and the passenger side window motor (which I found online for $50, instead of the $100 i’d have had to pay from the parts store). We’ll see how that goes when it comes in, more to follow.

Charlotte and I spent the weekend at Cakes and Pap’s in Savannah Tennessee. We had a great time and we always really enjoy it down there. It was so hot though, it makes me happy that we’re not near that heat anymore. It’s been really really nice here in Virginia.

I am in the process of my interstate transfer to the Maryland National Guard. I am transferring there because it has better units that Virginia and there is a significantly less likely chance that I will be deployed in the near future. Additionally, I am gathering the paperwork to put in for my Warrant Officer Packet. That is going to be an extremely long process, so don’t expect to hear back on that in the near future.

A friend of mine from work, Elizar, came over and helped me install the surround sound. I say he helped me, but I really didn’t do anything. He did the majority of the work. It looks great. I purchased ALOT of wire-hider so all of the speaker wire is hidden and none of it is visible. That, plus the fact that the speakers are mounted on the ceiling makes it really really nice. The surround sound sounds amazing and it works great on my xbox and the DVD changer, so things are really shaping up. The next step is to upgrade to HDTV so we can get really really clear picture. Maybe if I get a bonus at work, i’ll surprise Charlotte.

Georgia, Charlotte and I are doing absolutely great here in Virginia. Josh, Charlie and Amber are coming up for the July 4th weekend and we are really really looking forward to that. Striker is going to stay for about a week and Charlie and Amber will be here for just a couple of days as they pass through. We are really excited about having them see the house and get out and check out the area. John and April Broussard will be here soon enough and we’ll have that many more people in the area that we know.

Dad, Sue and Matt are also coming near the end of this month. It’s only a few weeks away. They are going to be staying in a hotel, but they will be here most of the time. We are all going to have a really great time checking out the city with them.

It looks like I will be headed to the International Spy Museum with another friend of mine from work next week. I wanted to get a chance to hang out with him outside the workplace before I headed off to another job. I haven’t been there, but it sounds like a really great deal.

I bought 2 tickets to the Dashboard Confessional concert here in Washington D.C. in August. Charlotte and I are really looking forward to going to that concert and I am hoping that Banshee and a friend of his comes along so we can all see them together. They should have a new album out by then, which is really really awesome.

Still haven’t had a chance to fly my remote controlled airplane. I haven’t had alot of time to do much of anything but work. Hopefully, when things calm down and my weekend duties go away (this is the last weekend I am required to work) I will have more time to do the fun stuff instead of spending it recovering from a crazy work-week. I pre-ordered the new Lego MINDSTORMs set from lego.com and am looking forward to that arriving at the beginning of next month. The operating system is completely open-source and you can put just about any language on there you want, which makes it that much easier to write code for. Isn’t that amazing? I already have plans for a robot that automatically waters the plants 2 times a day based on the positioning of the sun (how hot it is) and the time of the day. We’ll see how that goes.

Anyways, so that’s all i’ve got for today. I’ve had a really long day and I am super tired. I still have a couple really important tasks to complete before I goto bed. Charlotte is in bed asleep and not feeling well, so I am trying to monopolize on the small amount of time I have.

Goodnight everyone!

Regards,

- Joe
